Urge
Bombardier and Yamaha Motor Corporation to join the 21st century
and phase out dirty two-stroke engines!
What you can do:
Please
send a letter to the presidents of Bombardier and Yamaha and
urge them to cease production of their two-stroke engines.
Background
Both
Bombardier and Yamaha Motor Corporation still manufacture outdated
and highly polluting two-stroke marine outboard engines. Two-stroke
technology is nearly half a century old and the California Air
Resources Board estimates that operating a typical two-stroke
for seven hours releases the same amount of pollution as driving
a modern automobile 100,000 miles.
Cleaner
technologies already exist. Companies such as Mercury Marine
and Honda are producing four-stroke engines which are 95 percent
cleaner than two-stroke models. In addition, four-strokes do
not produce the choking blue smoke common to many two-stroke
outboards. They are also more fuel efficient, which is not only
better for the environment but for owners' pocketbooks.
Important!
Your personal experiences
and buying decisions as a consumer are important to these companies,
so please add your own thoughts at the start of the letter.
With your help we are making the
difference!
